Cars spend 90 percent of their time parked, meaning that the energy-intensive resources that go into their production are only used 10 percent of the time. We believe that car sharing - along with walking, biking and public transit - can help build a sustainable society. We believe in a future where a shared car is parked on every block. Members of our co-op are contributing one small part of the solution.

Market Commons - living with access to the co-op car

Creating Homes, a non-profit developer of ownership housing, is launching its Market Commons condominium project in downtown Guelph. And Guelph Car Co-oop will be there!

The six-storey building, located across from the Guelph Farmers’ Market, will be a 57-unit residential condominium featuring studio, one bedroom, one bedroom plus den and two bedroom condominium homes at prices that are affordable to first time buyers and attractive to empty-nesters, starting as low as $149,900 for a studio condominium.

Homebuyers will be able to leave a smaller environmental footprint by accessing the carshare parked on-site, using the bicycle storage and living in a walkable neighbourhood.

Priority Registration for the condominium homes is currently available online at marketcommonscondos.ca. Sales of the units will begin in the spring of 2011, with construction expected to start in the winter of 2011-12. Purchasers are expected to be able to move into their homes by the spring of 2013.

Two Fits fit the bill

Welcome to our new web site. We've been through a few growing pains, but we hope this will alleviate some of them.

We are pleased to announce that a second Honda Fit has joined the existing car at the same convenient downtown location. Members are happy with the cars' flexibility, gas efficiency and style.
