How it works
Once you become a member, you book a car by logging into our web booking calendar. To ensure availability, book well ahead of time. But if a car is free, you can book it immediately.
Vehicles are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You pick up your car from the Baker St. parking lot in Downtown Guelph and bring it back by the booked return time.
You are billed monthly for the number of kilometres driven, the total hours that you have used the car and an administration fee.
Note that for health reasons, smoking is not permitted in the co-op cars. We have one car designated as pet-friendly.
Cost of membership
You pay a one-time membership share of $500 and a $25 application fee. If two adult members of one household wish to join, the second person may join at an associate rate of just $100. The membership fee is refundable if and when you leave the co-op.
Then you pay:
• $4 per hour
• $0.30 per kilometre (These prices are subject to change.)
• $7.50 per month for administration
There is a weekend rate of $35 per day and $0.11 per km, applicable if booked any two consecutive days, Friday to Monday.
We offer a pay-as-you-go option for members who need financial consideration. Details available upon request.
Corporate/association members pay an additional amount per driver.
What is covered
The car co-op pays for gas, insurance, maintenance, cleaning, repairs and roadside assistance.
Keep in mind that the cost to own, insure and maintain a car is roughly $5,000 to 10,000 per year (including depreciation).
In addition, one of the car has a pass to all GRCA parks – Guelph Lake, Elora Gorge, etc. All occupants of the vehicle get in free.
